CAROL WRIGHT — You have to do it.
So much of life is about giving.
If you’re not sure how, you can get started with a little DIY.
The Office gifts have been around for a while, but the first step is figuring out what you need.
“If you want to get a gift card for the office, that’s great.
If I want to give my son a book that will be available at the library, I’m not going to get the book there,” said Carole Wright, who is a pediatrician and the author of the book, The Office Gifts.
The best gift to give to your son or daughter could be a car.
The most common gift for kids, said Wright, is a new car.
But even if you don’t have a new vehicle, you should get a new one.
“I have a 10-year-old son, so I think I have a little more responsibility for him than he has in a while,” Wright said.
Wright said there’s nothing worse than leaving a car at home.
“The most important thing is to take it to the garage,” she said.
“And if it’s a small, new car, I just make sure the doors are locked, so that it’s not going anywhere,” Wright added.
Worst of all?
“If it’s the older model, it’s terrible,” Wright noted.
It’s a little hard to imagine what it would be like to put the keys in the ignition.
But, she said, “I’ll give my daughter a new Mercedes because she’s a bigger person and she can handle a bigger car.”
Wright also said there are some things that are better to do in person than online.
“There’s a whole list of things that you can do on the phone, on a computer,” Wright explained.
“So that’s something that I’ll probably do myself.”
If you’re looking for a gift to bring to your kids, Wright said to make sure you know what you’re getting.
“You have to figure out what your kids need, and then figure out a way to make it for them,” she added.
“Don’t just give it out to a stranger,” she advised.
“Just make sure it’s something you’re going to put into their hands,” Wright advised.
It will be a while before you see your kids get their gifts from the office.
They are busy working, and they can’t be in the office all day.
“When I’m going into work, I’ll have my car, so if I have to walk down the street and take my kids to the movies, I won’t have them go into the office for that,” said Wright.
