Apple is planning to launch an iPhone 6 and 6s plus at its Apple Retail Stores in New York City and Los Angeles, according to a source with knowledge of the plans.
According to the source, Apple is also planning to introduce the iPhone 6 or 6s at some other Apple Retail Store in the United States and at some Apple Retail Centers in the U.K., Canada, Australia, Singapore and Germany, in addition to a handful of other Apple Stores in Europe and Asia.
Apple is also preparing to introduce its new iPhone 6 as soon as this summer, the source added.
The source did not elaborate on the nature of the new iPhone, and Apple’s official product description for the new phone has not been made public.
As Apple gears up for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 18, the company is expected to release its next-generation iPhone.
“The iPhone 6 is shaping up to be a bigger, better iPhone than we expected,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said in a statement at WWDC on June 5.
“We’ve delivered the best hardware on the market.
The biggest iPhone 6 features a 5.5-inch Retina display, an all-glass body, a new dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 4GB of RAM.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected at WWCD on June 6.
An iPhone 6 will be available in two colors, white and black.
At WWDC, Apple will reveal its new, 5.1-inch, Quad HD (2560×1440) display, the new 6.0-inch (1866×1080) display and the new 8.7-inch iPhone 6 Plus, which is set to be the first iPhone to come with a 16:9 aspect ratio display.
Apple has been working on its next iPhone since last year, when it introduced the iPhone 5S, which was launched alongside the iPhone SE.
The iPhone 5s was the last iPhone to support an 8-megapixel camera and was the first smartphone to include a 3G radio chip.
The new iPhone is the most powerful smartphone ever made and comes with an array of new features, including a 12-megabyte memory card slot, dual front-facing speakers, the latest iPhone-enabled facial recognition software, an improved battery and a fingerprint reader.
There are no Apple Store locations in the city of New York, but Apple has reportedly been preparing to open its first stores in New Orleans and San Francisco.
Apple’s WWDC presentation is expected on June 19.
